The Blizzard of 2016!

I remember the Blizzard of '96 like it was yesterday!  I was a Senior in high school and missed all of my exams due to school closings, it was awesome!  Well, here we are again 20 years later!  And we had Jonas, a huge snow storm that has been lingering around all weekend!  Of course, I had to work Friday (when it started!)  My friend with 4 wheel drive drove me so it was no big deal.  Today (Saturday), it has snowed an unbelievable amount!  The wind was crazy and snow came down heavy ALL DAY LONG.  So another problem occurred...I have to work the next two days!  Of course neither Sam or I have a 4 wheel drive vehicle (so smart being that I have to be at work under any weather circumstances!)  So today Sam trialed my van and took it around the neighborhood to see if it could get out.  And, drum roll please, it got stuck, and stuck, and stuck.  So thankful for a great neighbor who helped him out!  So unfortunately the verdict is that I can't get out of the neighborhood for work tomorrow.  Thankfully my neighbor with 4 wheel drive is taking me.  I am packing an overnight bag in case I have to spend the night for Monday.  We shall see.  However I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!  After Monday, I have a staycation for 10 days!  Woohoo!  Here are some pictures of today.  We stayed at home because, well, we couldn't go anywhere!!

New Year's Eve Ice Skating!

We had an impromptu New Year's Eve this year!  We really did not have any plans but ended up going ice skating at the outdoor rink in Short Pump with the McGuire's and Wheelins.  After ice skating we went all went out to dinner (a BIG group!) and then ended up at the McGuire's for fireworks!  We were home by 10:30pm and Josh and I went to bed.  Sam and Cora tried to stay up but I'm pretty sure they fell asleep on the couch!  We went from no plans to a night filled with fun!  Hello, 2016 -we hope this year is filled with love, happiness, health, and fun!
